When our Great Dane, Echo, was diagnosed with lymphoma, we found ourselves navigating something we never imagined we would have to face. Cancer changed our lives overnight. There were appointments, difficult decisions, chemotherapy, uncertainty, and so many emotions that came with watching our boy we loved so deeply fight for his life.
Through that entire journey, this Czars Promise was there for us. They supported us tremendously throughout Echo’s diagnosis and chemotherapy, not only by helping families financially and educationally, but by reminding us that we weren’t alone. And when we ultimately had to say goodbye to Echo, they continued to be a source of comfort and support as we learned how to process the loss of our beautiful boy.
Echo was so much more than a dog. He was family, and he left an impact on our lives that will never go away.
That’s why we’re starting a team in his honor.
We want to turn some of the heartbreak we experienced into something meaningful. By participating and fundraising, we can help give other families the support we were so grateful to receive and help advance research that could one day mean fewer families have to hear the words “your loved one has cancer.”
This event supports both children fighting cancer at UW Health – American Family Children’s Hospital and companion animals receiving cancer care through the UW School of Veterinary Medicine and more! It helps fund research while providing emotional, educational, and financial support to families facing one of the hardest experiences imaginable.
We’ll be walking for Echo.
For the pets still fighting.
For the families standing beside them.
For the children fighting cancer.
And for the hope that someday, cancer will no longer be the diagnosis that changes everything.
We would love for you to join Team Echo whether that means walking alongside us, donating, sharing our fundraiser, or simply helping us honor a very special boy.
Every step is for Echo. Every dollar helps another family. 🤍
Forever our boy. Forever our reason. 🐾
