2023 Inspiring Hope Dog Walk - Aaron Weber Group - Inspiring Hope

Roscoe and Dakota, we walk for you and everyone who has been touched by this awful disease.  

In May 2020, I found a lump on Roscoe's lower gum line. We went to our veterinarian and had the lump biopsied. A few days later it was confirmed. Cancer. Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the spindle cell variant to be exact. My world as I knew it had changed forever and I was terrified. 

A couple of weeks later, Roscoe underwent surgery. His incredible team of oral surgeons not only removed the tumor but also got clean margins. Roscoe was cancer-free. He did it! He beat cancer. I am forever grateful to all the veterinarians who cared for him at the UW Veterinary School of Medicine. Roscoe was cancer-free for the remainder of his life, and we were blessed with two more years with him. 

In February of 2022 our other pup, Dakota was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Again, cancer had invaded our world. We decided against surgery as there was a very poor prognosis. We took her home and spoiled her for as long as we could. Two weeks later we said goodbye in our front yard in her favorite spot. 

In Roscoe and Dakota's memories, I wanted to do something to help other families who were facing this scary and uncertain diagnosis. I was guided to this amazing organization and introduced to Beth Viney, Czar's Promises founder. This organization is near and dear to my heart and the work that they do is truly inspiring.

Additionally, Czar's Promise provides grant funding for pediatric cancer research at UW Health Kids - American Family Children's Hospital and companion animal cancer research at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine.
