Honey’s Hope
One morning Honey couldn’t bend her head down to eat her breakfast, concerned, we took our 3 year old sweet Honey to the vet, not knowing the battle we were entering. Originally, Honey was thought to have contracted a tick-borne illness, throughout the weekend she became lethargic, wouldn’t eat, and had a severe fever. She would eventually be hospitalized due to a platelet count that was virtually zero. After two days in the hospital, Honey seemed to be rebounding, however, due to her treatment she was losing muscle, becoming weaker, she had weekly blood tests and the results were not getting better. Her doctor recommended a bone marrow aspiration, it was performed on a Friday, through the weekend she continued to decline, she was hospitalized again, low platelets and red blood cells, Honey got a blood transfusion on Saturday, she was just not responding the way the vets would like to see. Early Sunday morning she would suffer another GI bleed and a possible neurological bleed, she developed sepsis and we had to make the hard decision to say goodbye. Three days later we would be devastated to find out Honey had acute leukemia. Although Honey’s battle is over, we would love if a donation to Czar’s Promise for research to end this terrible disease, our pets love us unconditionally, let us give back to them as we can, thank you
