For our sweet boy, Oakley.
For 311 days, you showed us what it meant to be brave. Every single day, you woke up and chose to fight, and in that fight, you gave us the most precious gift of all—more time. More time to watch you do the things you loved most. More time to see your tail wag, to watch you bound after bumpers, to snuggle in close, and to simply be with you. Those 311 days were filled with extra joy, extra love, and extra memories that we will carry with us forever.
We promise to honor you by caring for Lincoln the way you taught us to—with patience, love, and joy. We’ll give him all your favorite treats (yes, especially a pig’s ear) and we’ll make sure he learns the thrill of chasing down a bumper just the way you did. Through him, your spirit will continue to live on.
We promise to support other families who hear the devastating words, “your pet has cancer.” Because of you, we know what that journey feels like—the fear, the hope, the heartache, and the small victories. And because of you, we can stand beside them with compassion, understanding, and encouragement.
Your courage has also inspired others to act in your honor. Friends and loved ones have given gifts and sponsored causes in your name, ensuring that your story not only lives on in our hearts, but also helps raise awareness and bring hope to countless other families walking this same path. Even beyond your time here, you are making a difference.
Most of all, we promise to live our lives in your honor. You were, and always will be, our little hero. There isn’t a moment that passes when we don’t think of you. The ache of missing you will never go away, but neither will the love you gave us.
